The Mason’s Project – bespoke kitchen design in Cheshire
Having a bespoke kitchen designed and fitted can seem an overwhelming task, so Christine & Karl Mason approached Earle & Ginger Kitchens after seeing the standard of their work on their website. They have two young children and their family home is a mid size semi-detached property in south Manchester.
The couple initially had plans to add an extension to the rear of the property. However after discussing ideas with our designer at the showroom, they decided to remodel the interior of the house to form a spacious open plan area from the existing two rooms.
The initial brief began with the colour white, and described a sophisticated kitchen where Christine could cook & bake, she also wanted a place where family and friends could come together. Reflecting on this brief we began to source materials that would suit the family’s needs for their kitchen, and would also give them the chic finish that they expected. She was able to provide Christine & Karl with a design to suit the new interior plans for the property which incorporated their ideas.
Earle & Ginger’s builder undertook the 5 week build; which included knocking down interior walls, inserting RSJ steels, creating openings for new bi-fold doors and windows plus the supply of all necessary feeds and services for the new kitchen which was being installed into an existing living area. They began the project by ensuring that the rest of the home was separated from the dust which would be created in the initial stages of the build. Plastic sheeting was laid on all existing carpets including upstairs to ensure maximum protection, and a sealed dividing wall was constructed from plastic sheeting and timber to shield the rest of the house and the family from the dust.
The build ran smoothly throughout November and the room was ready for the kitchen to be installed as planned. Earle & Ginger recommended all the tradesmen and were able to schedule in the flooring, bi-fold door installation and interior designers, which brought the kitchen and living space together in time for Christmas. The whole process was project managed by Earle & Ginger Kitchens.
The kitchen furniture is pure white gloss topped with Hanex acrylic worksurfaces to provide a combination of textures in the room. The main appliances used are Siemens iQ300 self cleaning ovens, 2 AEG fridge freezers and a black gloss Caple wine cooler.
The kitchen is packed full of accessories including a metallic silver splashback, Quooker boiling water tap and custom made drawer inserts to provide personalised storage for the family.
The final result is a beautifully light kitchen that provides the Mason family with space to work, cook and live.
